Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes Calls March For Our Lives Protesters ‘Disgusting Vile Abusers of the Dead’
Countless celebrities showed their support for the March For Our Lives movement before, during and after the nationwide event on Saturday (March 24), butEagles of Death Metalfrontman Jesse Hughes isn't on board. The singer took to Instagram on Sunday (March 25) to address the anti-gun violence protests, calling them "pathetic and disgusting" in a lengthy caption.
"The Whitney Houston song about letting the children lead the way wasn't actually had operating paradigm for life," he wrote. "And when the truth don't line up with your bullshit narrative just hold your breath and stamp your feet and refused to except it…. then take multiple days off of school playing hooky at the expense of 16 of your classmates blood….!…. it might be funny if it wasn't so pathetic and disgusting."

Hughes also referred to his own experience with gun violence, as theBataclan shootingthat left 89 dead in 2015 was at an Eagles of Death Metal show at the Paris venue. In the wake of that tragedy, Hughes made some controversial comments about gun control, reiterating his feelings in his latest posts.
"As the survivor of a mass shooting I can tell you from first-hand experience that all of you protesting and taking days off from school insult the memory of those who were killed and abuse and insult me and every other lover of liberty by your every action," he added. "Long Live Rock'n'Roll….. and may everyone of these disgusting vile abusers of the dead live as long as possible so they can have the maximum amount of time to endure their shame….and be Cursed…."
The image that accompanies Hughes' comments is a drawing that equates gun control to a man cutting off his penis to prevent rape. Upon receiving backlash for the comments, Hughes shared a video of men laughing hysterically and thanked those who had commented for "all the fun."
In another post — which Hughes has since deleted — he shared a photoshopped image of Parkland survivor and student activist Emma Gonzalez ripping the U.S. Constitution in two, accusing her of treason along with the hashtag "#stupidity." Actor Ethan Embry called out Hughes for the controversial modified image, calling it a "pretty pussy ass move" and declaring "your ignorance is showing."
