Fans Question Chick-fil-A's Big Plans That Have Nothing to Do With Food

Chick-fil-A is reportedly working on a plan to expand its brand in a whole new way—and that plan has nothing to do with food.

Instead, the fast food chain is toying with the idea of entering the entertainment space with its own streaming service, according to a new report from Deadline . The platform is expected to be focused on family-friendly and unscripted content, with some coming in the form of original shows created for the new streaming platform. Chick-fil-A is also in discussions about licensing existing content.

The new platform is reportedly expected to launch later in 2024. Details regarding the intended launch date and name were unclear when reports of Chick-fil-A's plans surfaced on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Fans reacted to the reports online by questioning why Chick-fil-A would be interested in launching its own streaming platform. Many did so with jokes about the kind of content they imagined would populate the service.

"Is this serious? What kind of content is a chicken company gonna make? Chicken Run 3?" one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"Will these be chicken-based shows?" another person tweeted.

"As long as the shows are all chicken-themed," another person agreed on X, adding, "If it's other random irrelevant stuff, I'll pass."

Many X users were more than happy to offer name suggestions for the new streaming platform, from "Chickflix" and "Chik-flix" to "Chik-Fil-A-Plus" and "Flick-Chill-A." Others questioned whether the content would be available to stream every day of the week as they reminded fans that the fast food chain's locations are closed on Sundays.

"Can I watch on Sundays?" one person wondered as another joked, "Imma be so mad when I want to stream my favorite Chick-Fil-A+ show on a Sunday and the app refuses to open."

"Maybe focus on opening on Sundays before becoming Netfil-A," another X user recommended.

Many other fans stuck to the basics by including chicken-related jokes in their feedback.

"What the cluck," one person wrote.

"You've got to be Clucking kidding me," another fan wrote.

"What came first the chick or the streaming platform?" one person joked.
