Film Prize hosts 13th annual kickoff party at Remington Garage Wednesday evening
The Remington Garage was buzzing Wednesday evening when Film Prize hosted its 13th annual kickoff party.
"The first Film Prize 'kickoff,' there were maybe 16 of us if we counted a few of us twice," said Gregory Kallenberg, executive director of the Prize Foundation.
The venue was packed Wednesday with partygoers excited for Film Prize 2024. In attendance was Orville Hall, who worked alongside 50 Cent's G Unit studios in the recent development in the Shreveport film industry with the leasing of Millennium Studios.
"I believe I'm seeing the best infrastructure for an entertainment city I've ever seen in my life," Hall said. "Film Prize was the thing that said to me, 'Expand this.'"
Film Prize kicked off its 13th year on the cusp of a record-breaking year.
Since launching in 2012, the award-winning Film Prize has encouraged and incentivized filmmakers to choose Shreveport and northwest Louisiana as a place to make movies and try out new ideas, leading to the creation of more than 1,000 short films featuring the work of thousands of creative entrepreneurs and resulting in more than $25 million in economic impact.

Who won the Golden Lens Competition?
During the kickoff party, the Prize Foundation and Bossier Parish Community College showcased and presented the winner of the Golden Lens 2023 photography competition.
The Golden Lens is a competition that challenges photographers from all over the country to capture downtown Shreveport and downtown Bossier City during Prize Fest.
Audience Choice and Judges Choice winners were announced during the party.
Hannah Spence with Hidden Below was chosen for the $500 People's Choice award. Emily Hamann won big with the Judges Choice Award for her LVVRS Came to Win. She won $1,000.
