Fond du Lac's can't-miss events include Prairie Fest, farm party, fine art fair

FOND DU LAC - A Prairie Fest event focuses on nature, offering family-friendly activities. Camp all weekend at Avrom Farm for the annual party or check out the arts and crafts available for sale at the Waupun fair.

Here are five can't-miss events happening in the community this week.

1. Fond du lac's Prairie Fest is educational, full of family fun

Prairie Fest 2023 will be Aug. 5 at Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum at the UW-Oshkosh, Fond du Lac Campus.

Get out and celebrate nature during Prairie Fest 2023. It will run 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 5 at Gottfried Prairie and Arboretum , at the UW-Oshkosh, Fond du Lac Campus, 400 University Drive.

The free educational event will have activities for all ages.

Begin the day with yoga or a bird hike. Other activities include guided tours, pop-up talks, a youth obstacle course, face painting and crafts. At noon, 50 Monarch butterflies will be released.

Educational displays will be offered by Wild Ones, Audubon and International Crane Foundation, UW-Oshkosh Sustainability, Fond du Lac Public Library, Citizens Climate Lobby, the Historical Society and more.

2. Avrom Farm Party features music, crafts, gardening

Avrom Farm Party , a music and food festival, will run Aug. 4 to 6.

Avrom Farm is at W0908 Scott Hill Road, Ripon.

Some of the performers scheduled for the event include Katy Kirby, Ratboys, Squirrel Flower and Macie Stewart, along with many more acts.

All tickets include music; campsite access; craft, art and gardening workshops; farm tour; and family-friendly activities. Tickets are $45 for Aug. 4, $65 for Aug. 5 or $95 for both days. Purchase tickets online at avromfarmparty.com .

3. Waupun's Fine Art Fair set for Aug. 5

Waupun will hold a Fine Art and Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 in West End Park, 200 Beaver Dam St. Admission is free.

There will be more than 60 fine artists and crafters' works including woodworking, quilts, jewelry, watercolors, metalwork and more. Live entertainment will be provided 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. by Scotty Meyer. Entries for the chalk challenge will be on display.

4. Golf outing to raise funds for Salvation Army

Help support the Salvation Army at the fourth annual Inner Rhythm Big Cup Golf Outing Aug. 6. The outing will be noon to 5 p.m. at Rolling Meadows Golf Course, 560 W. Rolling Meadows Drive, Fond du Lac.

The Salvation Army has been in Fond du Lac for 132 years, helping to meet the pressing needs in the community.

Registration is $90 for an individual or $360 per four-some. Register online at rollingmeadowsgolfcourse.com . Participants get 18 holes, cart, range balls, lunch, prizes and a chance to win raffle items.

5. Kids' competition, set for Aug. 10, is free to participate

Fond du Lac County Parks will host a kids' competition 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 10. It will be at Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Park, 439 Martin Ave.

It is free to participate in events such as three-leg race; egg-and-spoon race; potato sack race; and tennis ball throw and win prizes.
