Goodbye, Mr. Good Burger: Roxie's Grocery set to close later this year

Roxie's Grocery will close later this year.

Owner Floyd "Red" Miller said Monday that the family plans to close their restaurant later this year. A closing date has not been set.

For four decades, Roxie's Grocery at 520 N. Third St. has been serving Memphians. The grocery was founded by Floyd (who is known as Red) and Roxie Miller, and is today run by the couple and several of their children.

The unassuming and windowless grocery and restaurant is home to what many consider the best burger in Memphis.

The locally famous "Mr. Good Burger" burgers consist of two giant hand-packed beef patties, four strips of thick-cut bacon, slices of hoop and pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayonnaise and mustard.
