“The Handmaid's Tale's ”Ever Carradine Says She’d Be ‘Really Self-Conscious’ Acting with Dad Robert Carradine (Exclusive)

• The Handmaid's Tale actress Ever Carradine, 50, says she would be "really self-conscious" acting alongside her father, Revenge of the Nerds actor Robert Carradine, 71

• Ever recently worked alongside her dad's former Revenge of the Nerds 2 costar, Bradley Whitford, 65, in their hit Hulu series — a coincidence which she calls "insane and great"

• Ever tells PEOPLE she doesn't fully know what happens in the last episodes of The Handmaid's Tale's upcoming final season because she and her castmates received redacted scripts

The Handmaid's Tale star Ever Carradine says she "can't even imagine" working with her dad, actor Robert Carradine — but mostly because it would be too nerve-racking. 

Ever, who plays Naomi on the hit Hulu series, recently spoke to PEOPLE exclusively while attending a special event the for show at PaleyFest LA 2025 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif. During the conversation, the actress, 50, says while she'd be open to collaborating with her dad some day, she also would have some reservations.

"I can't even imagine it. I feel like I would just be really self-conscious because he's my dad," Ever said of working with the 71-year-old Revenge of the Nerds star. "But it would be fun ... He's such a good guy to be around — on set also."

Ever — who says her dad is a "super fan" of The Handmaid's Tale — also noted that her dad worked with her current onscreen husband, Bradley Whitford , on Revenge of the Nerds 2, which premiered in 1987.

"Everyone laughed," she said of the coincidence. "It's all great. It's all insane and great, and we all just feel lucky."

Later in her conversation with PEOPLE, the actress complimented Bradley, 65, calling him "the best" to work with as a scene partner — while also sharing that his sense of humor and on-set levity helped her better achieve the rigidity required to play a character like Naomi.

"The thing is Naomi is so uptight," she explained. "But in order to play that uptight, you kind of got to be relaxed. And Bradley keeps me laughing all the time. I'm never not laughing if Bradley's on set, and that keeps you relaxed."

She added: "He's just funny and wonderful and cracks jokes and finds the humor or sings a song. I don't know what he does, but it's fun. And we were all together the day after — I think it was the day after the election — and just sort of like, that was the one unfunny day, but we got to be together."

And when it comes to her feelings on The Handmaid's Tale's upcoming final season? Ever says in some ways she's as much in the dark as viewers because the cast often received redacted scripts while working on the season.

"Everyone's [scripts] were redacted, and then different drafts would come out with less and less redactions. And I never asked for an unredacted episode 10 [the show's final episode] because I am a fan of the show, and this will be the first time I've ever been able to watch the show and not know what's going to happen," she explained. 

The Handmaid's Tale season 6 premieres on April 8 with three episodes. New episodes stream weekly on Hulu.
