Inside Bill Melinda Gates' New $43 Million San Diego Oceanfront Home
- Bill and Melinda Gates have purchased a $43 million oceanfront home in Del Mar, San Diego, featuring 5,800 square feet of living space and a 10-person Jacuzzi overlooking a fire pit.
It will come as a surprise to no one that Bill and Melinda Gates have a rather impressive real estate portfolio . Their primary residence is the $123 million mansion in Washington that Bill spent seven years building, but the couple has just added another jewel to their collection: a $43 million oceanfront home in Del Mar, San Diego. This sprawling beach house spans 5,800 square feet of living space, and has 120 feet of ocean frontage — plus amenities including a 10-person jacuzzi. Let's take a look at everything this jaw-dropping property includes.
Designed by architect Ken Rochetti, the Gates' new home features six bedrooms and 3.5 baths. But in case they feel like hosting a big group, there's also a two-bedroom guest house attached. It's also furnished with a four-car garage, and a spectacular outdoor area including a vast oceanfront deck, a glass tile swimming pool, and a 10-person Jacuzzi overlooking a fire pit.
The home itself is stunning, outfitted with imported limestone flooring, but nothing beats their sprawling ocean views, which you can admire from the numerous outdoor seating areas or while swimming in the pool. The beach feels like an extension of the house, a level of luxury we truly didn't know existed.
The Gates couple bought the house from Madeleine Pickens, the ex-wife of Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens, and their representatives have not yet commented on how they intend to use the new property. It could be another addition to their collection, along with several massive ranches he's acquired in recent years, or they could be thinking of using it as a summer house. Either way, if they need a house-sitter…we volunteer.
Here's a closer look inside the Gates's fabulous new home.
