"I did have something made for you by Moy Thompson, and it's one of my orbs, and it says, 'Every today with you is a better day' and the dates of your time at TODAY," the actress shared in a pre-recorded clip. (Curtis was initially due to make an in-person appearance on the show but had a change of plans amid the devastation and deadly wildfires rampaging Los Angeles .)

"So from all of your fans, your friends, me included. Thank you for being such a shining example to all of us of what's really important, and the reason that you're stopping is the most important. God bless you and thank you!" Curtis concluded as Kotb fought back tears.

While today is Kotb's last full day co-hosting Today , it won't be the last you see of her. The beloved TV personality recently revealed how she plans to still be involved with the program and NBC even after her final episode airs.

"Yes, you will [see me on TV]," she exclusively shared with Parade . "So I will be going to the Olympics in Milan and in Los Angeles. Actually, when they were saying, 'Let's do things together'—of course I am part of NBC and will be—I said, 'How about if we do the Olympics?' So I'll be kind of in a Snoop[ Dogg]-ish role working with the Today show in Milan and in L.A. I'm going to continue to do my 'Making Space' podcast, which I love deeply."

"It is such a part of me , and I'll be coming back to the Today show, maybe once a month in the springtime to talk about stuff and maybe do a story here and there, that kind of thing," Kotb explained. "And I'm excited about that, too, because I've never been there in that capacity. So I think that would be fun, too. So I get to just play with my friends again."
