Jason Ritter Joins ‘Lanterns’ DC Series At HBO

Jason Ritter is set for a key recurring role in Lanterns , HBO ’s drama series based on the Green Lantern DC comic. He joins leads Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre and series regular Kelly MacDonald.
The series, from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.

Ritter will play Billy Macon, a good-looking charmer who does his father’s (Garret Dillahunt) bidding. Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose .
Cast also includes Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.
The eight-episode Lanterns is produced by HBO in association with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Mundy, who serves as showrunner, Lindelof and King are co-writing and executive producing. James Hawes is directing the first two episodes and also exec producing.
Ritter can currently be seen as a series regular opposite Kathy Bates in CBS ‘ Matlock , which has been renewed for a second season. He’ll next be seen as a guest star opposite Natasha Lyonne and Method Man in the anthology series Poker Face on Peacock. Most recently, Ritter starred in Howard Gordon’s anthology series Accused for Fox. He’s repped by The Burstein Company and Gersh.
