Tracy Kristofferson — Kris' first child, whom he shares with his first ex-wife, Fran, was born on January 9, 1962. Tracy is a Stanford University graduate who followed in her dad's famous footsteps, becoming a talented actress and producer. Per IMDb, she's best known for producing Pharaoh's Army in 1995, as well as acting in 1985's Trouble in Mind, 1990's Night of the Cyclone, 1991's Another Pair of Aces: Three of a Kind and 1995's A Place to Grow. Casey arrived in 1974 during Kris' marriage with Rita. Casey clearly inherited her mom and dad's impressive musical skills, becoming the frontwoman of her band The Casey Kristofferson Band. Per her Instagram bio, Casey has been "sharing [the stage] with her parents Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge for years." The auburn-haired beauty is a North Carolina-based touring and recording artist, according to reports, and in 2019, she released her debut album. Kris Kristofferson was more than just his legendary singing and songwriting skills, he was a dedicated husband to his wife, Lisa Meyers, and the loving patriarch of their blended family. The "From Here to the Moon and Back" artist adored his eight kids, Tracy, Kris Jr., Casey, Jesse, Jody, Johnny, Kelly Marie and Blake.

On September 29, 2024, a representative for the star announced that he had died at his home in Maui. He was 88.

"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news our husband/father/grandfather, Kris Kristofferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 28 at home. We're all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he's smiling down at us all," his family said in a statement to People .
