RAVI SHANKAR DEAD AT 92:Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar has died. Labeled "the godfather of world music" by George Harrison,Shankar helped millions of classical, jazz and rock lovers discover the centuries-old traditions of Indian music. He also pioneered the concept of the rock benefit with the 1971 Concert For Bangladesh. In the hours after his death, it was announced that he, Carole King, the Temptations and four others will receive Grammy Lifetime Achievement Awards .

PAUL MCCARTNEY TO REPLACE KURT COBAIN AT 12.12.12 NIRVANA REUNION:Paul McCartney will fill the role of Kurt Cobain when he plays with the surviving members of Nirvana at the 12.12.12 concert for victims of Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday night.The former Beatle will join Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic on stage in New York to play a new song after secretly working with the pair.

HMV BEING SUPPORTED WITH £40M ($64.5 MIL) FROM SUPPLIERS: According to industry sources, HMV is being helped in the run-up to Christmasby an estimated £40m of financial support from suppliers. It is understood that HMV has secured greater access to music and film suppliers' back catalogs and is buying stock on consignment,meaning the retailer pays only for products if it sells them. HMV declined to corroboratethe level of support from suppliers, saying: "We would never disclose the nature of supplier relationships."
