  • Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan will reunite at the Oscars to pay tribute to the late Rob Reiner during the "In Memoriam" segment.

When Harry Met Sally stars Billy Crystaland Meg Ryanwill reunite during the Oscars to pay tribute to the late Rob Reiner.

According to Variety , the segment will include Crystal talking about the late filmmaker and actor during the "In Memoriam" segment, while Ryan will be on stage at the same time along with other stars of Reiner’s films.

The 1989 romantic comedy film, directed by Reiner, follows Harry Burns (Crystal) and Sally Albright (Meg Ryan) over 12 years as they meet, dislike each other, become best friends , and eventually fall in love.

Crystal, a longtime friend of Reiner's, also starred in his films The Princess Bride and This Is Spinal Tap .

Rob and his wife  Michele Reiner were found murdered in their home on Dec. 14. Later that night, their 32-year-old son Nick was arrested and charged for the crime.

On  Monday , Feb. 23, Nick pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in a Los Angeles courthouse. It remains unclear whether Nick’s defense team plans to pursue an insanity defense amid  reports he was diagnosed with schizophrenia  and struggling with drug addiction.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Nick could face life in prison or the death penalty.

Following Rob and Michele’s deaths, the couple's closest friends and collaborators, including Crystal,  Larry David , Martin Shortand Albert Brooks, released a joint statement.

“Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear , Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller,” the statement read. “There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films.”

“We were their friends, and we will miss them forever,” the statement continued, before ending with a quote from It’s a Wonderful Life , one of Reiner’s favorite films: “'Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?’ You have no idea.”

The 98th Academy Awards ceremony, hosted by Conan O'Brien, will take place on Mar. 15, 2026 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony will be televised live by  ABC  and streamed on Hulu from 7 to 10 p.m. ET.
