Ashley's role has also come into focus thanks to the final trailer. She appears to play the new assistant to Miranda Priestly—with Hathaway's Andy telling her, "I used to have your job."

While there was chatter that Sydney Sweeney would also appear in the film after being spotted on set , screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna said she would not be in the final cut. "There were a lot of photos from the set of various people," she told ScreenRant . "It became a running joke about who people had seen on set and were in the movie."
