"We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate everyone's continued understanding this year," The Mavericks wrote. "We look forward to bringing you the show you know and love as soon as we possibly can."

Refunds for the Santa Fe show will be available at the point of purchase as well.

Malo, 60, has been publicly battling cancer since revealing his diagnosis in June 2024 . He first underwent surgery to remove a tumor on his liver in late 2024 and returned to touring with The Mavericks in early 2025 . Malo, however, was hospitalized only a short time after .

Malo has been actively updating fans on his cancer journey. His most recent health update came on June 30 when Malo told fans that he has undergone 16 rounds of chemotherapy and will have colon surgery in August.

Malo also shared an update on July 30 stating The Mavericks' had to drop out of the Sandy Beaches Cruise 2026 because the singer will "undergo hernia surgery to repair complications from a previous operation" in January.

"The recovery time following this procedure will require us to take the first couple months of 2026 off for him to rest & recuperate, and hopefully be the final hurdle in his cancer treatment," the update read. "This decision was not made lightly, and we apologize for any disappointment or inconvenience this may cause. Your continued support means the world to us, and we are deeply grateful for your understanding during this time. Thank you for your patience and kindness. We hope to sail with you all again soon."
