Home + Garden Show, Camila and more things to do this weekend in San Antonio

Spring is just around the corner, which means its time for the spring Home + Garden Show. There's also time this weekend for a couple of old-school punk shows. Here's a look at the weekend's arts and entertainment highlights:

Friday  

Spring Home + Garden Show: Twin sisters Leslie Davis and Lyndsay Lamb, stars of the HGTV series "Unsellable Houses," will be the celebrity guests at the spring San Antonio Home + Garden Show. The show will feature dozens of exhibitors showing off all the services and products needed to build, buy or renovate a home. "Messy Hearts": Theater lovers have a chance to help playwright Phillip Lopez develop his new script. Actors directed by Brian Hodges will present a table read followed by a Q&A. "The Importance of Being Earnest": The Crystal Sea Drama Co. opens Oscar Wilde's comedy about a couple of young men who assume the same alternate identity - a fellow named Ernest - to get them out of tight situations. It works swimmingly until they both fall in love while operating under that name. Saturday 

"New African Masquerades: Artistic Innovation and Collaborations": This San Antonio Museum of Art exhibit explores the work of West African artists Chief Ekpenyong Bassey Nsa, Sheku "Goldenfinger" Fofanah, David Sanou and Hervé Youmbi. Their work deals with aspects of masquerade.  Opens Saturday. Through July 5, San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones. $14-$24 (free for children 12 and under), samuseum.org.

Descendents: California punk band Descendents are set for a big year. The band has enough songs in the can for a new album, according to an interview on "The Vinyl Guide" podcast. "Dragons Love Tacos": Magik Theatre's show is adapted from Adam Rubin's much-adored children's book about what happens when fire-breathing dragons are served spicy salsa with their tacos. The children's theater company has taken the show on the road while its home base downtown is being renovated. "The Robot Zoo":  The hands-on exhibit features various critters rendered in mechanical parts, including  a chameleon, a platypus and a housefly. "Bridgerton"-style Tea Party Ball: Event organizer Erica Powers presents an immersive  evening of ballroom dancing, games, teas and food inspired by "Bridgerton." Sunday  

Camila: This pop group from Mexico is touring with its orignal lineup - Mario Domm, Pablo Hurtado and Samo - to celebrate 20 years of making romantic music. "America at 250": The YOSA Philharmonic marks the country's 250th anniversary with a program of works by Schuman, Bonds and Hailstork, among others. David Nihill: Irish storyteller and comedian Nihill won the San Francisco Comedy Competition in 2018 (other winners include Dana Carvey, Sinbad and Carlos Alazraqui).
