Iconic country music group’s fans react to news of final show: ‘An extremely sad day’
Fans of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band got some good news and some bad news this week, too.
The good news?
Well, the band extended its farewell tour with 24 new dates.
The bad news?
The band said in a post on Instagram that this will be the final leg of the "All The Good Times: The Farewell Tour."
If that truly is the case, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's final show will be played June 18 in Denver, Colorado.
Fans were quick to chime on the group's Instagram post.
"June 18 will be an extremely sad day," one person replied.
"Don't miss out on this tour folks," Trevor World replied to the band's post on Facebook. "These guys are still making some serious magic each night they grace the stage with their presence."
The final leg of the tour provides some good news for fans of the band in Pennsylvania, too, as it is scheduled to perform in Easton on April 10 and in Lancaster on April 12.
Parade Magazine reported that the band decided to extend its tour into 2026 so that it could celebrate its 60th anniversary of playing together.
The band first announced its farewell tour all the way back in January of 2024.
"This isn't goodbye forever," the band's post on X stated at the time. "But it will be the last fans see of multi-city runs and long bus rides."
The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has been performing and touring for nearly six decades.
The three-time Grammy-winning band formed in 1966. The current iteration of the band includes Bob Carpenter, Jimmie Fadden, Jaime Hanna, Jeff Hanna, Ross Holmes and Jim Photoglo.
Jeff Hanna and Fadden have been with the band since the beginning. No surprise considering its longevity, there is a long list of past members as well.
The band's first big break came in 1970 with "Mr. Bojangles," and they have produced 25 albums through the years.
