Rainbow Canyon C.B. had local hit song with 'Franklin County Woman'

There are hundreds of songs with "woman" in the title.

"American Woman," by The Guess Who and redone by Lenny Kravitz, "Black Magic Woman" by Fleetwood Mac/Santana, "Evil Woman" and "Sweet Talkin' Woman" by Electric Light Orchestra, "Pretty Woman" by the late Roy Orbison, "I Am Woman" by Helen Reddy, "I'm Every Woman" by Chaka Khan/Whitney Houston, and "Woman" by the late John Lennon, just to name a few.

But did you know that there is a song about a woman in Franklin County?

Rainbow Canyon C.B., a local band, released the song "Franklin County Woman," in 1977 on Owl Records. It's a country love song about a woman in the 1950s who lived in South Columbus on Parsons Avenue across from Schottenstein's Department Store.

She worked for the county, and owned a 1954 Plymouth Fastback. The latter was a nod to Edith Ballard, a fan of the band whose car was featured on one of the band's albums.
