See it! George Clinton and P-Funk electrify crowd at Word of South

Tallahassee music legend George Clinton and members of P-Funk brought a whole lot of rhythm to the stage during an electrifying performance at the Word of South festival.

The Grammy Award-winning funk pioneer and members of his band landed "The Mothership" on the AC Marriott Plaza at Cascades Park on Saturday, April 25, and blazed through a set fans described as "amazing" and "mind blowing."

The band played some of Clinton and Parliament and Funkadelic's biggest hits, including "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" and "Atomic Dog."

Among those spotted up close to the stage were Tallahassee City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox, former Tallahassee Mayor John Marks with former First Lady Jane Marks and former state Sen. Loranne Ausley.

The appearance by Clinton, a.k.a. Dr. Funkenstein, came just weeks after he celebrated his upcoming birthday during the first-ever P-Funk Festival at Phipps Farm. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Clinton turns 85 in July.
