The biggest concert this week in November in the Sarasota area will be a Bradenton-formed pop-punk band that became one of Sarasota-Manatee's largest modern-day musical success stories. They'll play a free hometown show Saturday, as part of a big winter holiday season bash.
Other former Sarasota-Manatee residents will also return to the area this week, one at the place where he bought his first electric guitar in the '90s. We'll also have out-of-town, out-of-state and even out-of-country musicians in genres including "Siberian surf rock," hip-hop, bluegrass, Southern rock and blues — the latter genre represented at three back-to-back shows at one Sarasota County restaurant and venue. Igor and Red Elvises
"Siberian surf rock" group Igor and Red Elvises will return to Bradenton restaurant and venue Cottonmouth, located in Village of the Arts, as part of the neighborhood's Festival of the Skeletons/Día de los Muertos festivities. The group is fronted by Igor Yuzov, who grew up in the former Soviet Union, seeking out the forbidden sounds of rock 'n' roll.
He later moved to America and formed the Red Elvises, which has released albums including 1996's "Grooving to the Moscow Beat" and 1997's "Surfing in Siberia," and is still going strong today. We the Kings
Santa's Arrival Grand Parade at University Town Center will conclude with a concert by the Bradenton-formed We the Kings (their name comes from Martha B. King Middle School, which the band members attended.) We the Kings found national success with their 2007 self-titled debut and its triple-platinum single "Check Yes Juliet," becoming notable figures of the '00s pop-punk/emo era (they're currently on tour with "Hey There Delilah" band Plain White T's, and play the Vans Warped Tour revival in Orlando later this month.)
The group has continued to support where they came from, whether it's hometown shows such as this one, or their 2018 Christmas album "Season's Greetings from the Sandbar" opening with a "Silent Night" cover featuring the sound of crashing waves that credits Anna Maria Island as the guest musician. 8 p.m. Saturday; University Town Center, 210 N. The Palmer Squares
Chicago hip-hop duo The Palmer Squares will return to Bradenton venue Oscura this weekend. Comprising Acumental and Term, The Palmer Squares have released numerous albums, including with fellow MC ProbCause under the name Junkyard Samurai. (Acumental and producer Nate Kiz also released the collaborative album "Perennial" earlier this year.)

Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra
Hailing all the way from Norway, Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra will play Saturday at Sarasota's Fogartyville. The band's formation was inspired by the 2012 Belgian film "The Broken Circle Breakdown," about a bluegrass musician couple, and its soundtrack.
Hayde Bluegrass Orchestra was nominated for Band of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Award in 2022, with the group's singer Rebekka Nilsson winning the Vocalist of the Year IBMA Momentum Award. 7 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show Saturday; Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court, Sarasota; $30, $25 members, $15 students ages 13 and up (indoor reserved seating sold out, patio general admission seating open); 941-894-6469; fogartyville.org
John Salaway
Sarasota County-raised, now Nashville-based singer-songwriter John Salaway will return to the area to play Venice's Troll Music, where he bought his first electric guitar in the late '90s. Salaway has released albums such as 2021's "Salvation," which features guest musicians including Foo Fighters keyboardist Rami Jaffee and former Cage the Elephant member Lincoln Parish, who both appear on the opening track "One More Round."

Damon Fowler
Blues-roots singer-songwriter, guitarist and former Anna Maria Island resident Damon Fowler will return to the area for a show at Sarasota's Big Top Live as part of its Blues & Brews Sunday concert series. Fowler most recently released last year's full-length "Barnyard Smile," the studio album follow-up to 2021's "Alafia Moon," which topped the Billboard blues albums chart and earned a Blues Music Award nomination for Blues Rock Album.
Fowler has also played in the groups of late Allman Brothers Band co-founders Dickey Betts and Butch Trucks, and in the supergroup Southern Hospitality with Grammy-nominated pianist Victor Wainwright and fellow Floridian J.P. Kevn Kinney
McCurdy's Comedy Theatre in downtown Sarasota will host this concert featuring Kevn Kinney, the frontman for Atlanta Southern rock group Drivin N Cryin and a solo musician. Drivin N Cryin is best known for songs such as "Fly Me Courageous" (from their 1991 album of the same name) and "Straight to Hell" (later covered by Darius Rucker in a rendition also featuring Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Charles Kelley.)
As a solo artist, Kinney's releases include 1990's "MacDougal Blues," produced by R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, and 2000's "The Flower and the Knife," featuring Warren Haynes on numerous tracks. Biscuit Miller and Steve Arvey's Blues Explosion
Sarasota County restaurant and blues spot Englewoods on Dearborn will feature two musicians with roots in the blues hub of Chicago, Biscuit Miller and Steve Arvey. Bassist and singer-songwriter Miller is a two-time Blues Music Award winner for Instrumentalist — Bass and has released albums including "Chicken Grease" and "Blues with a Smile," a fitting title for the charismatic performer.

J.P. Soars and the Red Hots
Englewoods on Dearborn's live music lineup this week will also include Boca Raton blues guitarist/singer-songwriter J.P. Soars, playing a headlining area show the same weekend as his Southern Hospitality bandmate Damon Fowler, with his other group the Red Hots.
The group earned four Blues Music Awards nominations in 2022: Band of the Year, B.B. King Entertainer and Instrumentalist — Guitar for Soars, and Instrumentalist — Drums for bandmate Chris Peet, who was nominated in the same category earlier this year. 6:30 p.m. Wednesday; Englewoods on Dearborn, 362 W. Dennis Jones Band
Rounding out a busy week for Englewoods on Dearborn will be Los Angeles-based guitarist and singer-songwriter Dennis Jones and his band. Jones' latest full-length, 2024's "About Time," earned a Blues Rock Album nomination at this year's Blues Music Awards.
Along with his solo career, Jones has played in bands such as Zac Harmon & the Mid-South Revue, including when they won in the band category at 2004's International Blues Challenge — held by the Blues Foundation, the same organization that puts on the Blues Music Awards. 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13; Englewoods on Dearborn, 362 W.
