Renée Zellweger Joins Fifth Season Of ‘Only Murders In The Building’

  • Renee Zellweger has joined the cast of Hulu's Only Murders in the Building for its fifth season, alongside other A-listers like Christoph Waltz, Tea Leoni, and Keegan-Michael Key.

EXCLUSIVE:Hulu’s hit series Only Murders in the Building is adding more star power for its fifth season as two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger has joined the cast.

As per usual, details about the storylines and new characters are being kept under wraps.

Production on the new season, which will be solving Lester’s murder, started this week in New York with the show’s four series regulars — stars/executive producers Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as well as Michael Cyril Creighton — returning. Zellweger is among the new A-listers to join that include Christoph Waltz, Tea Leoni and Keegan-Michael Key.

Season 4 featured the show’s starriest cast yet, including the return of Meryl Streep, joined by Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, Eva Longoria, Jane Lynch, Richard Kind, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani and Molly Shannon.

Only Murders last month scored its first SAG Award for Comedy Series Ensemble, shared by Martin, Short, Gomez, Creighton, Levy, Galifianakis, Longoria, Kind, Nanjiani and Molly Shannon. Short also won for Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

Zellweger won Oscars for Cold Mountain and Judy and is onscreen in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy , the fourth and final installment of the Bridget Jones franchise. The film has grossed over $120 million worldwide. In 2001, Zellweger starred in Bridget Jones’s Diary for which she earned her first Academy Award nomination, also earning Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA nominations. The four-movie franchise has amassed more than $850 million worldwide.

Zellweger made her television debut in Netflix’s neo-noir social thriller What/If in 2019, and NBC’s The Thing About Pam followed in 2022. She will next serve as executive producer on the upcoming Apple TV+ thriller series Raising Wild , starring Cynthia Erivo, through her Big Picture Co..

Big Picture Co. recently entered a two-year, exclusive first-look deal with MGM Television. Under the pact, Zellweger and her producing partner Carmella Casinelli will develop new scripted projects for which Zellweger will potentially direct and star.

She is repped by CAA and John Carrabino Management.
