Palm Beach County Food Bank's Empty Bowls returns to Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach
Grab a bowl and enjoy a hearty meal during Palm Beach County Food Bank's 11th annual Empty Bowls Palm Beach at The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea.
Scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, guests will be able to choose from a selection of 400 painted ceramic bowls before proceeding to a line of signature soups donated by local chefs and freshly baked bread from Old School Bakery served by community leaders and local celebrities. There also will be a bake sale.
Participating restaurants are BrickTop's, Club Colette, The Breakers, PB Catch, The Beach Club, Le Bilboquet, Sailfish Club of Florida, The Bath and Tennis Club, The Colony Hotel, Renato's, Trevini Ristorante, The Ben, E.R. Bradley's Saloon, The Lord's Place, La Sirena, Café Joshua, Field of Greens, Grato, Pistache, Gourmet Galaxy and Ravish Off Ocean.
Donations and proceeds from ticket sales will support the Palm Beach County Food Bank's efforts to alleviate food insecurity.
"On average, the event raises around $100,000 for the Food Bank," Palm Beach County Food Bank Vice Chair and Gold Ladle sponsor Debbie Pucillo told the Daily News.
According to the Palm Beach County Food Bank, one in every 11 county residents suffers from food insecurity.
"We have more than 130,000 neighbors struggling to get a substantial meal, and we pass by them all the time in our work, place of worship and in our schools," said Jamie Kendall, CEO of the Palm Beach County Food Bank, in a prepared statement. "It's events like Empty Bowls that allow supporters to donate their time, resources and mainly hope to food-insecure residents."
Serving as chairs for this year's event are Amy Sullivan, Michael Dobies and Johanna Reyers.
"Our neighbors deserve the basic necessities in life, and that includes a nutritious meal," said Reyers in a prepared statement. "A dollar alone can provide five meals at the Food Bank, so you can only imagine the impact that a purchased ticket can do for our community."
Tickets are $35, and include unlimited soup tasting and one hand-painted ceramic bowl, while supplies last. Tickets can be purchased at pbcfoodbank.org/emptybowlspalmbeach . For more information, call 561-670-2518.
