On the latest Pop Shop Podcast, L.A.-based electro-pop duoFrenshipstopped by the office to talk about the surprise success of their firstBillboard Hot 100hit "Capsize" and the "timely" vibe of their brand-new song "Love Somebody." Though "Capsize" — their breakout hit featuring Emily Warren, which peaked at No. 24 on thePop Songsairplay chart back in 2016 — put them on the map, the guys are hoping to truly introduce themselves with their new music.

"We're still a relatively new band — publicly, at least — and I think people know us as 'Capsize' more so than Frenship at this point," Frenship's James Sunderland says. "So people are totally discovering us as 'the "Capsize" band.'" Brett Hite adds: "There's a few very humbling moments when we're driving around one of our shows — this happened a few times — and people who went to the show or people who are gonna go to the show drive by like, 'Hey! It's Capsize!'"

That should all change with "Love Somebody," which dropped Friday and landed some prime placement on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist. "We'd been gone for a while, so we hadn't put a song out in… I don't know how long, but in quite a bit," Sunderland says of their musical return. "And you're always a little worried of putting something new out, and you kinda go, 'Is this gonna do all right?' But it's been good so far," he says, adding that the song's positive message in this divisive political climate "felt timely."

"My mom really likes it," Hite laughs.

Next up, the pair will take their new music on the road starting April 3 in Kansas City, Missouri, and wrapping May 24 in Denver, before hitting Manchester, Tennessee, for the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 7. (Head to WeAreFrenship.com for ticket info.)
