Rami Malek Recalls ‘Gun-to-the-Head Moment’ When He Was Offered Freddie Mercury Role in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’
Rami Malek sat down with The Guardian on Monday (Oct. 15) for an interview about his upcoming role in the career-defining Bohemian Rhapsody biopic, in which he playsQueenfrontman Freddy Mercury .
A self-professed fan of Queen, the actor opened up about being offered the role of Mercury, calling it a "gun-to-the-head moment."

Further describing his justification for taking on the iconic role, he explained, "I like to think if it's a fight or flight situation, I'm going to fight. The scariest endeavors that I've chosen to take in my life have been the most fulfilling and rewarding. And this has proven to defend that equation."
Ahead of the movie's release, Malek's performance as Mercury has received favorable reviews from film critics who attended the film's early showings.
Bohemian Rhapsody is set to arrive in theaters in the United States on Nov. 2.
