Red Velvet’s ‘Summer Magic’ Features Lead Single ‘Power Up’ & English-Language Version of ‘Bad Boy’: Exclusive

K-pop quintetRed Velvetare ready to energize the summer with their upcoming EP. The girl group released two teaser images and an interactive game Sunday (July 29) in the lead up to the release of Summer Magic .

Set to drop on Aug. 6, Red Velvet's Summer Magic will be fronted by the single "Power Up," the group's second warm-weather theme following last year's hit "Red Flavor." SM Entertainment, the label behind the team, shared two new pictures of the group that show the album's seasonal vibe, featuring Seulgi, Irene, Wendy, Joy and Yeri sunbathing and donning girl scout-inspired outfits.

Along with the photos, Red Velvet shared an interactive website with a mobile phone game where fans can "mix" a drink made up of a variety of summer-themed items, such as fruit, flowers and activities.

Summer Magic is the act's sixth Korean EP, and their second Korean album of 2018, following January's The Perfect Red Velvet . Billboard has confirmed with SM Entertainment that there is a connection between that album and the upcoming EP, as the latter will feature an English version of the former's single "Bad Boy." The group gave fans a glimpse of the upcoming track atKCON 2018 NYin June, when they incorporated an English verse into their rendition of the song. "Bad Boy" was written by the Stereotypes, who won two Grammy awards earlier this year for Bruno Mars' "That's What I Like." The song went to No. 2 on the World Digital Song Sales chart dated Feb. 10. 

SM Entertainment also tells Billboard that there will be a special 'album-only' digital booklet and audio tracks available upon the album's release through iTunes.

The group started out in 2014 with the single "Happiness" and have since gone on to become one of Korea's most prominent girl groups. Red Velvet are one ofthe best-charting K-pop actson the World Albums chart, with four albums that have gone to No. 1 on the chart since 2015. They held their first solo stateside show inChicago in April.
