Selena Gomez & Kidney Donor Francia Raisa Are ‘Doing Great’ After Surgery, Says Raisa’s Mom
Selena Gomezand her friend Francia Raisa are "doing great" following their surgery during the summer where Raisa gave the pop star her kidney, the donor's mother says.
"Thank God they're both doing great," Virginia Almendarez, Raisa's mosther, told Telemundo news show Al Rojo Vivo , People reports. "Thankfully the kidney was compatible and that everything came out perfectly."

Speaking in Spanish, Almendarez also explained she was initially worried about her daughter's surgery, but admired her decision to do something so selfless for her friend.
"[Raisa] is an adult already, and she makes her own choices. She told me about it two weeks before the operation, and of course, at first, I was worried, but then she said that she had been thoroughly informed about everything and that she was going to do it," she said. "All I could do was support her," she adds. "People need to know that you can live with one kidney, there are a lot of individuals that get scared to donate to people that need it because they're afraid of never again living a normal life. But there is no danger."
After revealing news of the transplant on Thursday, Gomez is already back at work and showed up on set of her upcoming Woody Allen film. Like Gomez, Amendrez said her daughter Raisa has also returned to work on on set of her upcoming television show, Grown-ish , the spin-off of the sitcom Black-ish starring Yara Shahid. The show premieres next year on ABC.
