Shadowbox Live's 'Sleepy Hollow' puts modern musical spin on creepy classic
With the season of ghosts, ghouls and wart-nosed witches lurking, Shadowbox Live (SBX) is debuting a new original work and you might just lose your head over it.
Known for diverse, genre-bending presentations that include original sketch comedy, music by a live band, dance and new media, SBX will bring "Sleepy Hollow" to the company's stage at 503 S. Front St. at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The production is an adaptation of Washington Irving's 1820 short story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," set to the contemporary sounds of artists including Annie Lennox , Radiohead , Florence and the Machine , Sixpence None the Richer and Ciara .
Head writer Jimmy Mak's script for "Sleepy Hollow" grew out of an idea conceived by SBX choreographer Katy Psenicka. The show is produced by Julie Klein.
Additional performances of "Sleepy Hollow" will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 17.

Founded in 1988, SBX held its first performances at Buggyworks, an abandoned horse-drawn buggy factory, and relocated to Spring Street, then Easton Town Center before settling into its current home in the Brewery District in 2011. The company is the nation's largest full-time resident theater ensemble.
