Shawn Mendes Thanks Justin Trudeau For His Focus on Education at the UN General Assembly
World leaders gathered in New York City this week for the annual UN General Assembly. Among the people keeping up with the events that transpired is Shawn Mendes, who was particularly proud of him home country's prime minister Justin Trudeau for speaking out about education, especially in young girls.
"@JustinTrudeau thx for your leadership on education with #LeaveNoGirlBehind at the #UNGA2018 this week," Mendes wrote on Twitter of the Canadian leader. "I'd love to talk to you more about how we can ensure all children have access to quality education. I'll be encouraging my fans to take action this weekend @glblctzn."

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization , Canada, France, and the United Kingdom sparked an initiative titled "12 Years to Break Barriers and Leave No Girl Behind," which calls for mobilization on girls' education.
