Singer Lauv Appears to Come Out as Bisexual on TikTok
There's no time like Pride Month to come out.
Via TikTok on Saturay night, singer/songwriter Lauv, known for his song "I Like Me Better," as well as for writing Charli XCX's "Boys," seemingly came out as liking, well, boys!
The TikTok shows Lauv, apparently in the back of a car, squirming around under the text "When ur dating a girl but ur also a lil bit into men."
Lauv elaborated on the sentiment in the caption for the video.
"Does it have to be that big of a deal?" he wrote. "i havent done much aside from kiss so tbh don't wannna jump the gun but tbh i feel things and i dont wanna pretend i dont. :)"
Just minutes before posting the video discussing his sexuality, Lauv teased that he wanted to share something with fans, but that he was feeling a bit self-conscious.
"Me afraid to say anything on the internet because I'm 'known' or something," the text on the first video read. The caption added, "Can we just free the vibe or nah … i wanna be who i am …"
The post garnered a ton of positive comments, including a reminder that bisexuality is always valid, regardless of the gender of a person's partner.
"a straight relationship doesn't eliminate the fact you're bi 👏 so valid," one commenter wrote. "Lauv is lauv is lauv," quipped another.
Lauv joins a long list of celebrities who have come out in the past year, including Oscar winner Mo'Nique , who came out as bisexual during her Netflix comedy special, which was released in April. Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp, whose character Will on the hit Netflix show is also queer, came out as gay on TikTok in January, saying he was "more similar to Will than I thought." And, in a January interview with the New York Times , the Last of Us star Bella Ramsey came out as genderfluid .
