Soul Sisters Podcast: Natalia Lafourcade on Grammys Success and the ‘Crazy, Crazy Moment’ That Led to ‘Coco’
Grammy-winning Mexican artist Natalia Lafourcade joined Billboard 's Soul Sisters podcast just before attending the 60th Grammy Awards — where she was for best latin pop album for Musas — to tell us about her next album, and what awards really mean to her. That includes the Oscars, as her Miguel collab "Remember Me," from the animated film Coco, has been nominated for one of those as well.
"The team of Pixar called me…It was like a crazy, crazy moment," she recalls, while still touring on the last album. Noting the significance of a story about Mexican culture having such box office success in Trump's America, she insists that Coco isn't "just a movie… it has much more, because of the moment, and the history that we're having right now as neighbors."
