Talking Oscars and odds with critic, teacher Tim Miller at Thacher Hall in Yarmouth Port
With the 97th Academy Awards ceremony coming on March 2, you don't have long to catch up on all those Oscar contenders you haven't seen yet.
Film critic and teacher Tim Miller can help.
Miller will be interviewed by Greg Williams at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, at Thacher Hall, 266 Main St. (Route 6A) in Yarmouth Port. Admission for "Miller at the Movies: The Oscars & Beyond" is $10, with a link to tickets available online through gregorywilliamsspeaks.com/events/.
"Tim and Greg will discuss this year's Oscar nominees as well as some of Tim's other favorite (and least favorite) films. Tim will also take your film questions," according to a notice about the event.
Miller is the co-president of the Boston Society of Film Critics. Many of his more than 4,000 film reviews appeared over the years in the Cape Cod Times, and now appear in Cape Cod Wave Magazine. He teaches film and journalism at Cape Cod Community College.
In case you want to cram for the exam (just kidding, no exam) this year's nominees for best picture, from a USA Today story on all things Oscar , include:

"Wicked," the populist retelling of "The Wizard of Oz."
"Dune: Part Two," the epic sci-fi sequel
"I'm Still Here," the Brazilian political tragedy
"Anora," a modern-day Cinderella story

Organizers said movie-themed refreshments will be provided. Parking is available just across Route 6A from Thacher Hall around the Common, as well as at the post office and Chapter House Inn.
