Tallahassee eatery Leon's at Lake Ella is on Guy Fieri's 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'
Tallahassee's latest 15-minute segment of fame on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, " hosted by celebrity chef Guy Fieri continues this week.
This week's episode titled, "World Tour of Flavor," will feature Leon's at Lake Ella, operated by the city's very own Leon Brunson. The episode airs at 9 p.m. on Feb. 14.
In this episode, the Food Network's description says that Fieri is "globe-trotting for gangster grub while staying stateside" with visits to Naples, Florida, for lasagna Bolognese, braised pork buns in Chicago and "a funky fresh take on shrimp and grits" in the capital city.
Brunson's "Shrimp and Grit Sandwich" with smoked tomato remoulade and pickled red onions and the "Pork Belly Sandwich" is also listed on Food Network's recipe list.
This isn't the chef's first appearance on national television screen as the nation has witnessed his skills on Hulu Originals' show "Secret Chef," along with a number of appearances at events and collaborations. The chef has left his culinary footprint all over Tallahassee bringing it all back home to his very popular, intimate restaurant nestled on Lake Ella.
The announcement was met with excitement on social media, with users posting, "How exciting! I'm a big fan of Guy's TV series. I hope this helps you get a step up into the Food Network universe!"
Another poster said, "On Valentine's Day no doubt!! All about the love!!!"
Don't worry if you miss Friday's episode while celebrating Valentine's Day. To mark the special occasion, Brunson announced a celebration party on his Facebook page which will be hosted Sunday evening at the Challenger Learning Center of Tallahassee.
Tallahassee was graced by Fieri's presence at Market Liquors on North Monroe Street for a meet-and-greet and bottle signing for his tequila brand Santo Spirits in October. While here, it turns out this is when he also visited Leon's, along with several other locally owned restaurants to be featured on the hit show.
Recent broadcasts have featured farm-to-table restaurant Backwoods Crossing, Cajun-style eatery Coosh's Bayou Rouge Restaurant and comfort food destination, Tally Mac Shack.
