‘The Beast in Me’ Is Back for Season 2—Here’s the Newest Addition to the Cast

Netflix's The Beast in Me brought Claire Danes back to TV and reunited her with creator Howard Gordon, with whom she spent eight seasons working on Homeland. That combination was already exciting enough, but the cast also included Matthew Rhys and Brittany Snow, and Conan O'Brien and Jodie Foster were among the producers.

Danes stars as Aggie, a successful author grappling with the grief of losing her son. Her fragile sense of stability is shaken when Nile (Rhys), a wealthy real estate figure once accused of murdering his wife, moves in next door. With just eight episodes, the series left viewers wondering whether Aggie's story could continue beyond its initial run. Here's what we know so far.

Has The Beast in Me been renewed for a second season?

Yes. In September 2026, Variety confirmed that The Beast in Me would return for a second season on Netflix.

"We always told ourselves we'd only do a second season of The Beast in Me if we found a story that was worthy of the first—and I'm thrilled to say we found it," Gordon said in a statement. "We loved making this show and our audience seemed to love watching it, so we're enormously grateful to Jinny Howe and Netflix, and to Karey Burke and 20th Television for giving us the chance to get the band back together and do it again."

Who would be in The Beast in Me 's season 2 cast?

Variety 's report confirmed that Danes would return to her role for The Beast in Me season 2. In October 2026, Deadline reported that John Goodman ( Righteous Gemstones, Digger ) would star as "Aggie's dad, believed to be a long-time con artist."

In November 2026, Deadline revealed that Lili Taylor ( Outer Range , The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping ) joined the cast in a series regular role as Fiona, Aggie's stepmother.

What would a season 2 of The Beast in Me be about?

Gordon discussed the ending of season 1 with The Wrap and what it made him consider for season 2.

"I think that to the extent that Aggie is a writer who has been delivered to this next stage of her life, whatever that stage is," he shared at the time. "If there is a story, there might be more. I am tempted by the character of her grifter father in some way. We'll see how the show does and if an idea comes. But I think they'd be open to more."
