‘Big Brother 28’: LaTrice Verrett Says Her History-Making Comp Win Was a ‘Dream Come True’

LaTrice Verrett went into Season 28 of Big Brother as the oldest Houseguest that season. She was eliminated during week eight after a Blockbuster win foiled the house's plans.
She made history as the oldest Big Brother contestant to win the wall competition. She beat out MMA fighter Kamu Kirk . The reality star also took home a Veto win during the 80's workout competition that had even the fittest and youngest sweating.
LaTrice aligned herself with Taylor Brown , and the two made a final two deal. Despite wanting to target the icons, she also formed a friendship with Season 26's Angela Murray , as they are both women in their 50s.
She left in a four-to-two vote after the target, Rick Devens , won the Blockbuster and took himself off the block. LaTrice became the first member of the Jury , which will pick the winner on finale night.
Here is what she said about making history and her time in the house.

Did you ever think you would make history as the oldest Houseguest to win the wall competition, as well as the 80's workout veto?
Latrice Verrett: First of all, the wall comp has been in my mind for years. When I first started with my audition, I said I would pop my nails off and hold on to that wall longer than anybody. So, when I was able to compete in the wall comp, it was absolutely a dream come true. Being up there was like, "You know what, girl? You got this. You've got all these big old dudes next to you holdin on, but you got this, baby." I had it. I did it.
As far as the '80s competition, I needed that veto so badly. I didn't care what that competition was because I knew if I lost that veto, I was going home. I did that scooty booty and the hip thing. I have a bruise on my elbow all the way up my arm from doing the hip thing.
The tongue thing. I tore that up. I had 65. The closest to me was 43, I think, so I was doing that. [laughs]. It felt really, really amazing to be the age that I am, the injuries that I have, and to come out on top next to these children who are half my age. Absolutely amazing. I felt inspired, and I hope that people were inspired by me. That was my top honor.
The icons were a target for the rest of the house, but you were pretty close to Angela. Would you have put her up if you were in power?
Angela was the one I would not have put up because Angela was always going to be a vote for me, so why would I put her up? In the beginning, when I came in, I wanted Angela out. But we built a relationship, and I was like, "This is my girl. She's got me. I've got her."

Dee [Valladares ] and [Rick] Devens are not of the Big Brother camp. They are of the Survivor camp. They are brutal. If the house is not careful, they're going out. We almost had Dee out, but due to a freaking power, she's still in, and she needs to go. Devens needs to go. A lot of people in there are fanned out, and because they are, they're going to hold onto them, and they're going to hold onto them too long. They're going to end up taking it, and they're going to regret it. So [ shrugs ].
Would you have honored your deal with Devens to not vote him out, if you had won the Blockbuster, or were you just trying to get a vote?
Hell to the no. I was just trying to get a vote, child. First of all, I could never say Taylor's name, and I went to Angela and told her that I was going to give him a vote, that I wouldn't vote for Taylor, that I would vote for him.
But then I told him I couldn't do that. I couldn't give him my vote. She was like, "Tell him you're going to give him your vote. You don't have to do it, but tell him you're going to do it."
I was like, "Aww, shoot. I don't like to lie." But I had to do it. No, I would not have given him my vote. Just like they told me they were going to give me the vote and didn't. He wouldn't have gotten it. [ Laughs .]
