Big Brother 28's LaTrice Verrett Says Barrett Betrayed Her: 'He Played Me' (Exclusive)
LaTrice "Lala" Verrettbecame the ninth houseguest evicted from Big Brother 28 on Thursday night, leaving in a 4-2 vote and taking the first seat in jury. Head of Household Drew Campbellput her up alongside Taylor Brownand Yash Patel. Yash then won the Power of Veto and pulled himself off, and in a questionable move, Survivor alum Rick Devens volunteered to be the replacement nominee. He actually almost went home but pulled out a clutch BB Blockbuster win, which left Lala and Taylor vulnerable for eviction on the block.
Because Lala is the first juror, her exit interview was recorded by CBS from questions Men's Journal submitted rather than in a live conversation, which is standard once the jury phase starts. Asked who she felt most betrayed by, she went straight to Barrett Pfeiffer. "I believed Barrett when he looked in my face and he told me certain things, and I know now that he was just really working on his great knowledge of this game and how to play it," she said. "So he was playing it, and he played me."
She also names the three houseguests she would have gone after with Head of Household, pushes back on the read that she was a pushover, revisits her iconic Wall Comp win, and picks the one person left in the house she wants to see at the end.

Men's Journal: Hi Lala! First of all, who do you feel most betrayed by?
LaTrice Verrett: Oh my gosh, Sharon, who do I feel most betrayed by? Probably Barrett. Yeah, probably Barrett, because I believed Barrett when he looked in my face and he told me certain things, and I know now that he was just really working on his great knowledge of this game and how to play it. So he was playing it, and he played me.
Men's Journal: If you won HOH, who would you have put on the block and targeted?
LaTrice Verrett: Oh, Dee [Valladares], most definitely. Devens, most definitely, and Drew, most definitely.
Men's Journal: What's the one thing about your own game people got completely wrong?
LaTrice Verrett: That I was a pushover, and that I was old, and that I couldn't compete the way that I competed. Because when I won that wall, all of their jaws fell to the ground. So yeah, they might have thought that I was in there and I couldn't hit a ball in the pickleball. But when it came to that wall, baby, I sure could hold on to that.
Men's Journal: Who would you like to see go far in the game?
LaTrice Verrett: Who would I like to see go far in the game that's left in that house? Taylor. I would love to see her. I'd love to see her take it, and probably that's it.
