Harry Shum Jr . has a busy few weeks ahead as his Dancing With the Stars success continues — but fans are already curious about what comes next.
Since the actor began his tenure as a competitor on the dancing competition series, two major projects from his past have been revived. In early October, news arrived that Crazy Rich Asians is coming to the small screen as an HBO series . Just a few weeks later, Disney+ and Hulu announced the return of Glee .
Thus far, Shum Jr. has not been listed among the names of stars returning for either of the two projects — so Entertainment Weekly directly asked the actor if fans can expect to see him back in either universe anytime soon.
"You know what? I love those two franchises," Shum Jr. said in a post-show interview on Tuesday evening. "Obviously, the last of [ Crazy Rich Asians ] ended on the characters that Gemma [Chan] and I play, so I would love to try and find a way to make it work."

Though Shum Jr. originally had a slightly bigger role in Crazy Rich Asians, his character, Charlie Wu, appears only in the mid-credits scene of the film, to tease a future love story with Chan's Astrid. Fans of the books know that their romance will be a critical part of the story going forward, should the actors return. (Chan was also not included in the initial announcement of returning stars.)
As for Glee , Shum Jr. said that he feels similarly about a potential return to the musical-comedy series.
"Same thing with Glee ," the actor and former backup dancer said. "I'm currently really, really busy now, but I would love to keep continuing because I love those franchises."
As Mike Chang, Shum Jr. was a recurring cast member on the first two seasons of the show before getting boosted to the main cast for seasons 3 and 4. Like many of the original stars, he again became a recurring face after the OG characters graduated from high school.
Since kicking off his run on DWTS , Shum Jr. has not shied away from references to his time on Glee, even calling upon former costar Amber Riley to sing live during one of his routines. Prior to that, Riley — a Dancing With the Stars champion herself — and fellow glee club alum Chris Colfer showed up for the Week 3 live show to cheer on Shum Jr. in the ballroom.

Shum Jr. and pro partner Jenna Johnson recently told EW's sister site, PEOPLE , that fans should be on the lookout for sly references to Glee , which will be sprinkled into their various routines.
"Anything can happen," Shum Jr. teased. "So, there are songs that [we'd] have to adjust, but like, of course."
Johnson added, "We wanna do like [ Glee ] Easter eggs, I feel like, too."
