EXCLUSIVE: ‘Nobody Wants This’ Stars Timothy Simons, Justine Lupe Have Opinions on Sasha and Morgan

Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Nobody Wants This" Season 3.
In its third season, " Nobody Wants This " goes from a love story to a complicated love triangle.
Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) have solved their main relationship issues. Their siblings, meanwhile, are just stepping into their own mess.
Questioning whether their long marriage is still serving her, Esther (Jackie Tohn) asks Noah's brother Sasha ( Timothy Simons ) for a separation. The separation leaves Sasha reeling — and free to acknowledge the undeniable crackle he shares with Joanne's sister, Morgan ( Justine Lupe ).
During a trip to New York, Sasha and Morgan finally act on the spark audiences have long sensed between them. (As we said, complicated! )
In an interview with TODAY.com, Simons says he was "excited" for his character to finally cross that boundary with Morgan.
"Story-wise, I think it's one of those things that's been there for a while. If you don't address it, it'll just end up hanging too long. An audience would be like, 'Why aren't you addressing this?' I feel like they addressed it in a responsible and earned way," he says.

After spending the night together, Morgan abruptly takes an early flight home to Los Angeles, leaving Sasha stranded and confused in a New York hotel.
Morgan, after initially wrestling with her feelings, tries to win Sasha back over. But it might be too late. By then, Sasha has become more measured. He also sleeps with Esther, muddling matters further.
Lupe, speaking to TODAY.com, thinks Sasha and Morgan's story would have been different if she hadn't left him in New York.
"It gave him a moment to get reasonable, for where he's at and how he can properly take care of himself. If she had not left, he probably would have been swept up," she says.
Simons says Sasha is at a crossroads between two kinds of love. There's the "safety and familiarity" of Esther, with whom he shares a daughter and years of history — "but is it the most emotionally healthy relationship for either one of them?"
Simons says there's a chance Esther and Sasha wouldn't make the same decisions about their relationships. "They got together pretty young. Maybe they wouldn't make the choice to be together now," he says.
Whereas Morgan and Sasha are both "weirdo, kindred spirits that fit the same role in their families."
"I feel like they just understand each other in a very interesting way that nobody else in their family does, and I think that's one of the things that draws them to each other," he says.
As for what's next? Lupe says she "doesn't have a strong opinion."
Simons says he does have an opinion, but he's keeping it secret (for now).
"I'm not a writer. I'm not a director. It might not be the best thing for the show. That's out of my hands. But I do have a personal opinion," he says with a smile.
