The last regular episode of Shudder's "The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs" ended Saturday night with Briggs taking shots of Wild Turkey and telling bad jokes.

It then cut to an "In Memory Of" screen for the show.

It was the end of an eight-season run for the show which began back in 2019, but Briggs has been a fixture on television hosting B-movies and telling bad jokes for four decades. The abrupt end to the show, which was announced heading into the weekend, left fans heartbroken and full of questions.

Briggs posted a video to X before the show went on air to address some of those questions.

"Number uno, my health is fine," the 73-year-old said. "I'm spry as (expletive). Numero two-o, tonight is the last regular episode of 'The Last Drive-In.' Numero three-o, Shutter has commissioned four specials. Numero four-o, none of this was my decision.

"We ain't done."

And the heartbreak of fans knowing the show was going away turned to anger and confusion for many with Briggs saying it was not his decision.

"What exactly does Shudder have going for it besides the Last Drive-in?" Steve Anderson replied.

"Well at least I know that after today, I can cancel my @AMCPlus membership and just reactive a free trial once a quarter," another person wrote. "I think the rest of the #mutantfam should do the same, but that's just me."

"(Expletive) yes!" Ryan Mullahy wrote. "Thank you @therealjoebob for the clarification. The sooner you leave @shudder the better TBH. Find the new home and bail on the specials. Why hang around at this point?"

"Well looks like I can finally end my annual Shudder subscription,' Rez wrote on X. "I've been watching Joe Bob since I was a kid. Thank you Darcy for making the last 8 years possible. Where ever you both go I will be there. Thank you both for all the good times."

"And seriously, @Shudder & @AMC_Networks, you suck," one person wrote on X. "Subscription over."

All is not lost for fans of Briggs and his horror movie showcases. There are the four specials he mentioned, and it does sound like he plans on trying to continue on in some fashion.

It will be interesting to see if Shudder and AMC+ respond to the backlash.
