As General Hospital Counts Down to Jason’s Return, Steve Burton Warns ‘Some Won’t Love It’!
Although General Hospital 's Jason has not yet been seen on screen, portrayer Steve Burton has been filming for several weeks. Now, he's spilling the beans as to what fans should expect when Jason does reappear, not to mention how it will impact the canvas.
Chatting with co-star Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) on their Stone Cold and The Jackal podcast, Burton said he's got "a lot of good story" coming up. "We're shifting directions a little bit, which is gonna be interesting for fans."

This particular wording left Anderson intrigued as to what, exactly, his friend meant. "Everything that has to do with kind of Jason and his world," expanded Burton. "That's where the shift is going to take place."
Where Has Jason Been?
Of the story he's currently playing out, Burton says "it's shaking things up!"
Of course, this isn't his first time Jason has returned after an extended absence. "It was interesting coming back last time, because I was… forced to work for basically the FBI and the WSB to try and infiltrate and do all these crazy missions and all this stuff, which is cool. Character building to some degree."

That return, he points out, "didn't really impact [Jason's] relationships back home too much." Except, he jokes, for the fact that Jason kinda sorta tried to kill Sonny! "But we ended up making up, because that's what we do!"
Things are different with this return, the actor previews during their chat, which you can watch in its entirety below. "The way I was taken off the show, there were a lot of questions. Where did he go? What happened?"

Some of those questions will be answered and some won't. It will, Burton says, "be cool for the fans from a story aspect. I'm sure some won't love it… but that's how it works!"
Intrigued, Anderson asked if Jason's return had the potential to be polarizing. To that Burton would only suggest they reconvene to address that particular question after Jason's been airing for a month, which will give them the freedom to talk more openly about the storyline.
That said, Burton admitted to being excited. "It's all story [and] character based, which I like. Character-driven decisions. It's gonna be great!"
