Jon Stewart to Host Rare Tuesday ‘Daily Show’ After Return From Summer Hiatus
- Jon Stewart will be hosting The Daily Show on Tuesday, September 8, instead of his regular Monday slot due to Labor Day.
The Daily Show returns from its five-week summer hiatus next week, and Jon Stewart will be the one welcoming viewers back, just on a Tuesday instead of his regular Monday slot.
Since returning to the Comedy Central program in February 2024, Stewart has hosted the Monday night episodes, with the show's regular correspondents, including Desi Lydic , Ronny Chieng , Michael Kosta , Josh Johnson , and Jordan Klepper , rotating as guest hosts for the rest of the week's episodes.
However, with Monday, September 7, being Labor Day, there will be no Monday episode next week. Therefore, Stewart will kick things off on Tuesday, September 8, instead, per LateNighter . It will mark his first non-Monday hosting appearance since last September, when he helmed a Thursday episode, the day after his friend Jimmy Kimmel was temporarily suspended.
Stewart will return to his regular Monday night slot starting on September 21. There will be no Monday episode on September 14, as the show is allowing staffers time to travel back to New York from the 78th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California, held the night before.
Comedy Central has yet to announce Stewart's guest for his Tuesday return, nor have they stated which of the show's rotating hosts will head up the Wednesday and Thursday episodes.
Stewart has plenty of news to dive into on Tuesday's episode, including the ongoing U.S.-Iran war, the search for a new White House press secretary , and all the midterm election drama . However, even during his time off, he's been sharing his thoughts on President Donald Trump .

Last week, he appeared on Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson's IMO podcast , where he touched on Trump profiteering while serving as president. According to reports, in 2025, Trump added around $2.2 billion to his net worth through cryptocurrency deals and merchandising.
Stewart joked with Michelle that she and her family missed out on an opportunity. "I imagine for you and your family… that it's a surreal experience for you guys because of the effort that you put into building something up and to watch it be corrupted," he said, adding, "Although I have to say, you guys left money on the table."
"You guys didn't do a pump and dump," Stewart continued. "You left some money on the table… It's the level of corruption that is, in some ways, maybe it's doing a favor by making the current power structure and dynamic of this country untenable because of how explicitly corrupt."
