Lisa Kudrow's role as Phoebe has remained one of the most popular characters in sitcom history, but at the time the show was actually airing, Kudrow was not at the forefront of things.

In a recent interview with The Independent , Kudrow described how she felt overlooked while playing Phoebe, with her character receiving less importance than her castmates.

"Nobody cared about me," the 62-year-old actress told the outlet, "There were certain parts of [my talent agency] that just referred to me as 'the sixth Friend.'" She added that "there was no vision for me, and no expectations about the kind of career I could have."

"There was just, like, 'Boy, is she lucky she got on that show,'" Kudrow added about her role. She won an Emmy for her portrayal of Phoebe Buffay, who has since become significantly more popular among fans of the show.

However, this lack of emphasis on her character also worked in a positive way for Kudrow. It allowed her to take on a variety of roles during that time, including in Clockwatchers, Mother, and Analyze This.

In Analyze This, Kudrow starred alongside Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal, which brought her greater attention. She explained that "that's when the agents and business people started circling, wanting to put me in romantic comedies and things." However, Kudrow added, "[I] knew that wasn't gonna work. I'm just not adorable."

To this day, F.R.I.E.N.D.S. remains one of the most popular sitcoms of all time.
