  • Actor Shawn Hatosy has addressed the possibility of a spin-off for The Pitt focusing on the night shift team, which could offer a different tone and new types of cases.

There's a good chance The Pittcould expand its world, and this time, it might happen after dark as actor Shawn Hatosyhas addressed growing buzz around a The Pitt spin-off. It looks like fans of Dr. Abbot and crew may have something to look forward to.

Shawn Hatosy talks The Pitt spin-off after Season 2

Hatosy, who plays night shift attending physician Dr. Jack Abbot, revealed that there's already been conversation about building a The Pitt spin-off around the night crew. "There's been a lot of talk about the night shift. That would be really cool. We could do some cool, interesting things with the tone of the show," he told People .

Unlike the main storyline in The Pitt Season 2 , which follows the day team led by Noah Wyle's Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, the night shift has only appeared in brief moments so far. But according to Hatosy, that side of the hospital has its own distinct vibe. "Dr. Abbot chose the night shift because it's a certain kind of group of misfits that work together at night," he explained.

That difference in tone could open the door to new types of cases and more unconventional characters, something a spin-off could fully lean into. Still, Hatosy isn't complaining about how things are right now, adding that "everything is great" with the current format.

Interestingly, the show may already be moving toward giving the night team more space. Ayesha Harris, who plays Dr. Parker Ellis, has recently become a series regular for the third season, hinting that the night shift storyline could grow even without a separate show. Hatosy also had a bigger role behind the camera in The Pitt Season 2. After working with executive producer John Wells on another project, he stepped in to direct an episode.

For now, The Pitt's spin-off hasn't been officially confirmed.
