‘Power: Legacy’ Officially Heads to Starz, So Will Omari Hardwick Return as Ghost?

Another day, another show is added to the popular Power Universe. On June 3, it was officially announced that Power: Legacy has been greenlit and will debut on Starz . Although a release date has not yet been set, the news is certainly welcomed by many fans of the Power franchise. Executive producer 50 Cent is celebrating the news on social media, sharing a post of a promotional picture for the show with the caption, "Man I gotta stop taking so many L's man I'm losing 🤷I can't catch a break. 😔LOL @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi ." 

Power: Legacy will feature familiar faces Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr., who are reprising their respective roles as Tommy and Tariq. Since two of the main players are returning, it's natural for many to wonder once again if Omari Hardwick will finally make his way back to the Power Universe as Ghost. So, will he? 

'Power Legacy' Sees Tommy Return to New York City with Tariq

In the new series, viewers will pick up after the events in the Power Book IV: Force series finale , where Tariq helped Tommy survive an organized crime war and maintain some power in the Windy City. Viewers will recall that by the end of that episode, Tariq asked if Tommy would return to New York and "start some new sh*t," to which Tommy replied, "Hell yeah, I'm ready." So Tommy heads back to help his "nephew" shake up some things in the Big Apple. 

Will the duo have an easier time taking over the city's underworld since Tariq pretty much got rid of a lot of his foes at the end of Power Book 2: Ghost ? In short, probably not. 

Will Omari Hardwick Return as Ghost in 'Power: Legacy'?

As of publication, Hardwick isn't attached to the new show . From a storyline perspective, Hardwick's Ghost allegedly died by the conclusion of the original Power series. Tariq callously shot and murdered him. However, as many have noted, Ghost was never seen dead in a casket, a reason many fans have held out hope that he could have faked his death and disappeared. 

Refuting fan theory, Power creator/showrunner Courtney Kemp has firmly stated that Ghost died. That being said, Gary Lennon will be stepping up as the showrunner for Power: Legacy , so who knows what direction he may take the show in. Perhaps, he gives the people what they want. 

Beyond the plot, it's worth discussing that Hardwick and 50 Cent hit some turbulence in their relationship since Ghost was supposedly killed. However, Power ended in 2020, so perhaps bygones can be bygones. 

Just to emphasize, no one from Starz or Hardwick's team has shared that Ghost is coming back to the scene. So for now, fans shouldn't hold their breath.
