Happy New Year! 

2026 has arrived, and with it a whole new year of Saturday Night Live . Last year was huge for the comedy institution, as it celebrated turning 50 with the biggest party ever , packed with stars, epic musical performances , and many reminders of why it has lasted so long.

Season 51 then welcomed five new cast members who had to find their footing on the heels of that 50th birthday celebration, alongside all-time great Hosts like Amy Poehler , Melissa McCarthy, and Ariana Grande . No easy task, but now the whole cast is ready to find out what 2026 will bring.

Is SNL new tonight, January 3, 2026?

No. Ever since Ariana Grande's spectacular December 20 Christmas episode , SNL has been on winter break. New episodes will return on January 17.

Who is the January 3 SNL Host and Musical Guest?

Catch Miles Teller and Brandi Carlile  on this week's 11:30/10:30c broadcast.

Revisit Miles Teller's second episode as Host, which aired on November 1, 2025 . He starred in a couple of incredible pre-taped sketches, playing both of the Property Brothers in "White House Makeover" and the husband of a wife who mysteriously disappeared in "Missing Wives Documentary." He lost his temper on live TV in "Newsroom," and played the perfect mustachioed homicide detective in "Murder Press Briefing." 

Carlile headlined as Musical Guest for the fourth time and performed two songs from her 2025 album Returning to Myself .

Who is the first SNL Host and Musical Guest of 2026?

Finn Wolfhard and A$AP Rocky. 

The Stranger Things star, fresh off the debut of the series finale, will host for the first time on January 17. He's also known for starring as young Richie Tozier in the 2017 adaptation of It , which was followed by 2019's It: Chapter Two . Adult Richie was played by SNL alum Bill Hader, and Hader described Wolfhard in a 2019 interview with Glamour as looking like "if me and Andy Samberg had a kid." Wolfhard called Hader "one of the great comedian filmmakers of our time" and said he had admired the comedian for many years, so maybe we'll see Hader's impact on Wolfhard's comedy skills play out on the show. 

A$AP Rocky will make his debut as Musical Guest the day after releasing his new album Don't Be Dumb,  but he's been extra busy outside of music as well. He appears in the 2025 movies Highest 2 Lowest and If I Had Legs I'd Kick You , and just welcomed his third child with Rihanna in September.
