Soap Queen Susan Lucci Makes Unexpected Comment About Status of 'All My Children' Return
Susan Lucci is keeping hope alive regarding All My Children 's potential return to air.
Even since the beloved soap opera ended in 2011, fans have been hoping that it would someday return, and Lucci recently hinted that a comeback could really be on the horizon.
While making an appearance on the Soapy podcast hosted by soap opera alums Greg Rikaartand Rebecca Budig, Lucci dropped an unexpected revelation about the long-awaited return of All My Children , claiming that the possibility is "bubbling as we speak."
While asking Lucci what she knows about a potential return, Rikaart said the idea seems to have been "bubbling" for some time, which Lucci confirmed, "Yes, it's been bubbling for several years."
"Just when I think it probably isn't bubbling anymore, it's bubbling," Lucci, 79, said, before adding, "It's bubbling as we speak."
Budig—who previously starred on All My Children with Lucci—seemed to be slightly surprised by the soap queen's revelation, to which she replied, "Really?" before asking if her character Greenlee Smythe is even "still alive."
"I hope so!" Lucci replied, while reminiscing on the "great time" she and Budig had together while filming the show.
Budig joined All My Children in 1998, while Lucci had been with the show since it began in 1970. The show eventually ended in 2011 after 40 years on air.
