‘Today’ Lead Increases in Ratings Battle With ‘GMA’ & ‘CBS Mornings’

  • NBC's Today show claimed the top spot in morning show ratings for the week of August 24, with 2.863 million total viewers and 617,000 demo viewers, up 2% and 6% respectively from the previous week.

The morning show ratings for the week of August 24 were positive across the board, with all three programs posting week-to-week gains in total viewers and the coveted Adults 25-54 demographic.

According to AdWeek , citing Nielsen's national live+same-day big data plus program ratings, NBC's Today claimed the top spot, averaging 2.863 million total viewersand 617,000 demo viewers.This was up 2 percent in total viewers and up 6 percent in the demo compared to the week before.

Today,  co-hosted by  Savannah Guthrie and  Craig Melvin , was also up compared to the same period in 2025. The show was up 16 percent in total viewers and up 9 percent in the key demo.

ABC's Good Morning America landed in the No. 2 spot, averaging 2.761 million total viewersand 516,000 demo viewersfor the week of August 24. Compared to the previous week, the show was up 1 percent in total viewers and up 17 percent in the demo.

The show, co-hosted by  Robin Roberts George Stephanopoulos , and  Michael Strahan , was also up year over year in both measured categories. GMA increased by 8 percent in total viewers and 11 percent in the demo compared to the same period in 2025.

Meanwhile, CBS Mornings averaged 1.652 million total viewersand 263,000 demo viewersfor the week of August 24. The show was up 3 percent in total viewers and up 2 percent in the demo compared to the previous week.

Compared to last year,  CBS Mornings , hosted by  Gayle King  and  Nate Burleson , was down 4 percent in total viewers and down 15 percent in the key demo. It was the only morning newscast to see decreases in these yearly comparisons.
