  • Usha Vance wore a strapless shimmery Reem Acra blue dress to the Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball, upping her fashion game for the Inaugural Events.

Vice President JD Vance's wife Usha crossed party lines so to speak by choosing a strapless shimmery Reem Acra blue dress to attend Monday night's Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball.

The former corporate lawyer and mother-of-three appears to have upped her fashion game for the Inaugural Events. The California native opted for a peony cashmere coat with a coordinating scarf wrap and tea-length dress by Oscar de la Renta's Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia. She polished up the look with knee-high mauve-colored suede boots. Vance also donned a black velvet strapless Oscar de la Renta evening dress that kept with the dress code for Saturday night's Trump-Vance fundraiser, which was a black-tie affair at the National Gallery of Art. Some might wonder if the look was slightly reminiscent of John Singer Sargent's "Madame X." Her frock had asymmetrical floral accents and a sweetheart neckline, while the former U.S. senator for Ohio and "Hillbilly Elegy" author's tuxedo was more expected.

By choosing Reem Acra for Monday night's dress, she relied on a designer known for eveningwear and wedding gowns. The designer is also bipartisan about her clients, as Joe Biden's granddaughter Naomi can attest to. She wore a strapless ivory silk Mikado Reem Acra gown for her White House wedding reception and cake cutting ceremony in 2022. (The former president's eldest granddaughter had chosen an elaborate Ralph Lauren gown for her nuptials on the South Lawn .)

The newly installed Second Lady earned an undergraduate degree at Yale University and a post-graduate one at the University of Cambridge. During her speech last summer at the Republican National Convention, she said her father is an aerospace engineer and her mother is a provost at the University of California San Diego. For that event, she wore a cobalt blue Badgley Mischka dress.
