Watch Ben Platt & Patti LuPone’s Salute to Broadway Legends at 2018 Grammys

What better way to celebrate Dear Evan Hansen winning best musical theater album at the 2018 Grammys than for the Broadway smash's original starBen Plattto joinPatti LuPonefor a performance later that night? That's exactly what the duo did Sunday (Jan. 28), offering a back-to-back salute to Broadway legends Leonard Bernstein and Andrew Lloyd Webber on the Grammys stage.  

Platt kicked things off with "Somewhere" from Bernstein's West Side Story , hitting the stage with just a guitarist and cellist behind him, giving the Broadway classic an almost Simon & Garfunkel folky feel and calling attention to the inclusive lyrics and haunting melody.

Next, reprising her Grammy performance from 1981, LuPone took to the staged balcony for "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" from Webber's Evita . Instead of addressing her countrymen, she sang to a rapt Grammy audience, just as enthralled with LuPone's pipes more than three decades later.
