The Duchess of Sussex and Gwyneth Paltrow have made a video together to address rumours of a feud .

The pair were seen in the kitchen at Paltrow's home in Montecito, California, where the Oscar-winning actress was at first apparently alone as she conducted a question and answer session with fans on Instagram.

When one asked about rumours of a " Meghan Markle beef", Paltrow replied: "I genuinely do not understand this at all, whatsoever."

She then turned the camera to show that the Duchess was also at the table and asked her: "Do you understand this?"

The Duchess shrugged her shoulders, took a bite of food and giggled. The video was also shared on the Duchess's Instagram page.

Tensions between the two were first reported when Paltrow said she did not feel threatened by Meghan's attempt to become a lifestyle guru .

The Shakespeare in Love actress has her own wellness brand, Goop , but told Vanity Fair she was happy to "pave the way" for others to follow.

Last week, she appeared to mock With Love, Meghan, the Duchess's Netflix series, which was panned by critics despite being renewed for a second season.

On Saturday, Paltrow shared a clip on Instagram of herself cooking scones, bacon and eggs, without make-up and dressed in pyjamas. The Duchess's cooking series involved designer clothing and an expensive kitchen inside a hired $8 million (£6.2 million) farmhouse.

As if to underline the comparison, Paltrow used the soundtrack of This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole, which had also been used in promos for the Duchess's Netflix project.

A question from a fan set up Gwyneth Paltrow to reveal that the Duchess of Sussex was at her table

However, some fans speculated online that the "feud" might be a clever marketing ploy.

Paltrow had previously told Vanity Fair that "everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try" and said she did not know Meghan well, but that she "seems really lovely".

Meghan has since launched her As Ever brand , which sells products including jam, pancake mix and the dried flower sprinkles she adds to everything from shortbread biscuits to fried eggs on toast.

She is also releasing Confessions Of A Female Founder, a new podcast, in which she promises "girl talk" and advice on how to create "billion-dollar businesses".

It comes after it was revealed Meghan believes her new business ventures will make her "a billionaire" .

Confessions Of A Female Founder starts on Tuesday April 1.
