Why Vice Principals got canceled before Season 3

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly , McBride explained his reasoning. He stated, "I think I had been burned by too many TV shows that I invested in, where they started out great, and then, with each season, stuff changed, cast members left, and ultimately, at the end of the day, you don't know if you saw the completed thing that the original creators had in mind. So we wanted to create a show that [had a] finality to it, that had a beginning, middle, and end, and give people a complete story."
McBride affirmed that they intended Vice Principals to be a self-contained narrative. However, he has not completely ruled out the prospect of revisiting the series in some capacity. He expressed his enjoyment of working with Walton, hinting that while the series has officially concluded, future possibilities aren't entirely off the table.
