What Is an Amish Casserole?

Amish casseroles hail from Pennsylvania Dutch country. Deep rooted in simple ingredients, this homey category of  casserole has made its way onto many kitchen tables for breakfast, dinner, and the meals in between. It is common to see Amish casseroles be made from ingredients we all have on hand in the fridge and pantry, which means you can regard it as a dependable, go-to recipe you can make as a busy  weeknight dinner !

Ingredients You Need for Amish Casserole

The other terrific thing about this Amish Casserole recipe is that you can use it as a template and truly make it your own. Maybe you have the shredded variety of frozen potatoes like  hash browns . That will work fine. Or, swap out the sausage for  Italian sausage or even  bacon . If your family doesn't enjoy cottage cheese, I think  mozzarella cheese would taste fantastic here. You could even add whatever  vegetables you need to use from the crisper drawer. The possibilities are endless!
